The priority role of the KZNCC is that of servant leadership: facilitating ecumenical relationships with Church leaders, member Churches and member organisations, drawing on the strengths of each grouping and helping to respond to new challenges as these emerge. The KZNCC has a particular responsibility for provincial matters and has developed expertise in this field so that it can provide an effective service to ecumenical structures in all parts of the province. Particular attention is given to helping the Church in each region identify and understand priority social issues and respond effectively to these. This involves encouraging the sharing of ecumenical resources so that the areas of greatest need can be served.
